This is part of the reason for a trip to Fairfax: IEEE-USA News Release (05/04/04): Unemployment Rate for Electrical Engineers and Computer Scientists Jumps in the First Quarter *sigh*
Basically, all this fruitless job searching around Atlanta has me a little depressed. Most of my friends are gone for the summer or graduated already and have moved on to other parts of the country. So I sit here in my basement feeling sorry for myself because I can't even seem to get my foot in the door any place. I wrote this huge rant last night while I couldn't sleep, but when I read it over, it was dripping with so much self-pity that it made even me tell myself to shut up.
Part of the problem right now is that I have nowhere to go on a daily basis. I've got plenty of video games and books and Legos and puzzles to keep me occupied, but I'm getting restless. So I've decided to pay Fairfax an early visit while my mom is off meeting up with my dad in India to celebrate their 25th anniversary. This way I can drive the Contour all week to see if I really want to keep it myself (as opposed to my massive Olds 88) and spend some time with my brother. Plus, there are some friends I haven't seen since Christmas, and in some cases even longer.
I'm getting cabin fever down here and the best cure is a change of scene with some old friends and a new job market to investigate. Admittedly, that investigation began with my government search earlier this week, but there are a lot of tech companies out near Dulles and along the I-270 corridor, so I'm going to go check it out.
There's a few other reasons too, but they're less important and not really worth mentioning here.
